Kaitlin, Katie, Kate...
Hi there!
< Here's me with my first foster kitten, Istanbul. He's a real cutie, isn't he? Read his story below!
I have been surrounded by animals since I was born (and before that, even!). Throughout my life I've owned or worked with dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, gerbils, mice, anoles, freshwater fish, horses, goats, chickens, ducks, pigs, and I've handled snakes, turtles, and frogs as well.
In college I volunteered with Hog Heaven Rescue Farm in Cochranton, PA. There I worked with abused, abandoned, and neglected pigs, goats, horses, mules, donkeys, and alpacas! The farm also had a variety of cats, several large Akita, and two amazing Great Pyrenees brothers who guarded the alpaca herds.
Currently I am a cat foster parent for The Animal Rescue League and a volunteer with Animal Friends, both in Pittsburgh, PA. I'm also working on starting my own rescue network - hopefully to become an independent 501c3 nonprofit someday! For more information about Petal's Pets, please click ---> PetalsPets.weebly.com
As a pet owner and as a foster parent, I've dealt with a wide variety of issues and maladies. My first litter of foster kittens included a 5 week old female, and 2 seven week old brothers, one of which seemed determined to be feral, and the other of which tried to die on me a few times. With the help of friends (and one very patient beagle mix!) I socialized all the kittens, dealt with food aggression issues, and nurse little Istanbul (pictured above!) back to health. All three babies needed clavamox twice a day for their URIs, but little "Bully" needed fluids, round the clock feedings, and constant bathing to help keep him clean since he was not in control of his bodily functions. I am happy to report that Istanbul was the first to be adopted once they returned to the shelter. All three are now healthy, happy kittens in new, forever homes.
I take the care of animals very seriously - I treat all my clients' pets as my own!
Please take a look at my Happy Customers to see some of the other animals in my life. I can't wait to add you and your pets to my list!
